From October 22nd to November 8th, all schools in France are closed for the Toussaint vacation to remember All Saint's Day. During this vacation, I decided to visit Stuttgart, Germany to visit my sister's parents-in-law, Caroline and Gerry, and I also visited my friend, Laura, who lives in Trento, Italy.
From October 23rd to October 27th, I was in Stuttgart. To get there from Aiguillon, I had to take one train, two buses, and two planes. My first plane was from Bordeaux to Paris and my next plane was from Paris to Stuttgart. It was quite a voyage!
When I got to Stuttgart on the evening of October 23rd, I was quite exhausted, so I went to bed pretty soon after I arrived at Caroline and Gerry's apartment. However, the following four days were un sacco di divertimento (in italian: a ton of fun) !
On October 24th, I went to the Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival with Caroline and Gerry, which is the biggest pumpkin festival in the world. There, we saw the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace surrounded by beautiful gardens, some fun creatures that were all made of pumpkins, and some gigantic pumpkins too! It was a beautiful fall day and the festival was also very crowded.

The next day, Monday, October 25th, Gerry and I explored downtown Stuttgart, which is located in southwest Germany. I went on the ferris wheel and saw an awesome view of the city and Gerry and I also ate at a restaurant (Carls Brauhaus) to try traditional German schnitzel and beer. Gerry got schnitzel but I actually ate some pasta; it was delicious but very heavy. After eating, we continued our stroll through Stuttgart and visited some shops, bakeries, and the Stuttgart Public Library. The library was particularly cool because it was so modern and looked like something you would see in a movie! See below:

On my last full day in Stuttgart, Tuesday, October 26th, Gerry and I visited the Mercedes Benz Museum. The museum isn't far from their apartment -- we only had to take two short train rides. As soon was we got to the museum, I was struck by how cool the building itself looked -- it really was a work of art. When Gerry and I explored the museum, we started at the top and slowly made our way to the bottom. Here, I learned all about the history of the Mercedes Benz automobile company and all the brands associated with it. The top floor covered how the company started and the floors that followed it covered how Mercedes Benz manufactures its automobiles, how the company was involved in the Second World War, how the company is involved in automobile racing like the Formula 1 and the Grand Prix races, and the future of the company.
